In 2019, I organized a fundraising campaign as part of the Alpe d’Huez sponsored ride, which was scheduled for 2020 with the Mammoet cycle team. Unfortunately, the ride was first postponed due to COVID, and then postponed again. Subsequently, I started a new assignment, causing the ride to eventually fade from view.
In the meantime, however, I had already raised a significant amount for cancer research but had not yet provided any return. That didn’t feel right.
This spring, I was without an assignment and decided to make the best of a bad situation by training purposefully. The Alpe d’Huez was exchanged for the Stelvio, the queen of all Alpine passes, because after four years of waiting, the challenge had to be somewhat greater. With appropriate pride, I can now report that yesterday I managed to climb the Stelvio, with which I hope to have settled my debt of honor.
I would like to once again sincerely thank all my sponsors from 2019/2020 for their contribution to the good cause!
